We always see what others have, but are blind to all which life gave us. We see what is far away from us, what is outside of our reach. And at the same time we miss what is just in front of us. Just recently I was showing my husband some of my digital photo-albums. He was amazed by some of the photographs - “Where did you take them?” - he asked me. I started to laugh. He looked at me and added: “Don't tell me that I am living there...”. Yes, he is living there as the photos were taken on our property. The photos captured all the beautiful moments my husband missed complaining about life. Complaining that life is not perfect, that life is not fair, that other people have more than we have.
We tend to see only the bad things in life, we complain that life is not fair, we are getting angry as others treat us badly, we are getting frustrated as things are not as we want them to be, as life is not as it should be. I do not know how life should be, I only know how it is and that through all these complaints we do not see how all the chances and opportunities life is putting in front of us are passing us by, as we are never ready. We are always waiting for the perfect moment not seeing that the moment is now.
We tend to forget that every thing in life has “the other side” – there has to be rain to create the rainbow. There has to be darkness to display the stars. We sit and complain how bad and annoying the rain is instead of turning around, looking at the magnificent rainbow and enjoy the moment. We try to walk through the darkness complaining that we cannot see anything instead of sitting down for a moment, turning our heads to the sky, looking at the millions of stars shining on the dark firmament and live in the moment. If somebody gives us a rose we see all the thorns on the thin stem, but we miss the big red open flower on the end of the pedicel.
Everything in life has “the other side”. We might not have the choice what life will throw upon us however, we always have the choice to choose which side of the
situation we want to see – the good one or the bad one. We have the choice how we react to this, what has happened to us.
And sometimes life will be very hard and pushes us down, and we think that we cannot bear it any more, but... at the end it does not matter how heavy the thunderstorm is, after the storm the sun will shine again. There is always hope on the horizon...
The reality is that beauty is all around us we just need to learn to see it. If the happiness is not living inside us then nobody and nothing can make us happy.
The happiness is living inside us, we just need to learn how to let it come to the surface.
And we can be sure there will be always people who are worse off than we are.
